What is Wrong with Black People?
mHow Post-slave Psychology and Afrocentricitym mmare joining with Colonialism to underminemmm Black Africa's Cultural Integrity
Lulu Publications, USA, 2007

Joe Mintsa has written three books: The Sum of all Doubts (2004), Les Mythes du Recaptif (2005) and Third Mind (2006). In these books, the author establishes a one-to-one dialogue with every single one of his readers on questions that affect human development in our times, and most predominantly the persistent tendency to man-to-man and nation-to-nation brutality.

It is stipulated that oppression could, within the framework of the formation of medieval and classical empires, find its legitimacy in cultural and religious expansion (the need to eradicate barbarity and evil from under-civilised peoples’ primitive ways of life, as once asserted by Emperor Augustus that Roman imperialistic annexations were intended to, as he put it, 'homines a fera aggrestique vita ad hunc humanum cultum civilemque deducere'—or to take men from their wild and savage life and drag them into our sate of civilisation and political organisation).

This still seems to be the argument in more recent cases of colonial annexations, including today's oppressions that seem to find their justification in a more political argument (the need to spread 'democracy' in parts of the world that are still struggling with the assimilation of the principles of good governance).

On the other hand, the Anglo-Saxons may have used oppression in North America in the particular case of their brutal slave system to build the most economically powerful colony of population on earth (the need to avail themselves with cheap and even free manpower around the clock for mass production).

While most instances of historic oppression in our world fit in one of these three categories, the paradox, as found by Joe Mintsa, appears to reside in the disjunction between nobleness of the ambitions put forwards and the means leading to them. Why is it that the eradication of barbarity and evil, the spreading of good practice in politics and the building of a successful political community should all utilise a blatant humiliation, brutalisation and exploitation of humans by humans? Is it the case that enlightenment and improvement should always walk hand in hand with subjection and brutality? Does suffering always breed great art, as goes the old maxim? Why is human history blemished with the stains of oppression?

In order to answer these questions, Joe Mintsa's exploration emphasises on the condition of today's Black Africa, a continent marked by terrible cruelty both from inside and outside, as well as the condition of the Africans themselves both in African and in the world, with the disturbing quest into the real motives for the African type of species to be so desecrated and brutalised in the world.

The bulk of Joe Mintsa's astonishing and revealing findings to this quest is set to refute not only the cultural and religious dogma of medieval and classical oppression, it also questions the political argument of modern and post-modern colonial expansions, as it equally does condemn the Anglo-Saxon style of economic utilitarianism.

However, this dialectic distantiation is far from acquainting with pure humanistic thinking in so far as it does not put any particular emphasis on the oppressors whose reasons for oppressing seem to be clearly delineated in their respective agendas, however badly substantiated in respect to the practices in force to achieve their objectives. Rather, it concentrates on the opposite front – the oppressed, as their reasons for being oppressed have seemed, in Joe Mintsa's exploration, to be the ones that may never have been clearly delineated, considering their passive character in the instigation of the oppression enterprise, which leaves no room for conceiving the probability of any participatory initiative or contributory motivation from their part.

It is, instead, this unsuspected probability that Joe Mintsa has offered to bring by calling upon the spirit of conceptual and practical technicality in the exploration of human history; hence his 'Philosophy of Technicality' or 'Technicalism'. And Third Mind is his most recent substance for this.
